1. Who We Are
VioFamily is a parent-first app for creating a calmer YouTube watching experience for children. Parents approve videos, playlists, or channels, and children watch inside the approved list in Kid Mode.
VioFamily is not affiliated with YouTube or Google. YouTube and Google services may still process data according to their own terms and privacy policies when YouTube content is played.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use VioFamily, we may collect the following categories of information:
- Contact information: email address and, if provided, names for account or family setup.
- Identifiers: account ID, user ID, device ID, app version, and similar technical identifiers.
- Purchases: subscription status and purchase history related to Premium Monthly or Premium Annual subscriptions.
- User content: kid profiles, parent-approved YouTube links, videos, playlists, channels, categories, and whitelist settings.
- Browsing or watch activity inside the app: approved videos watched in Kid Mode and watch history features.
- Usage data: app launches, screen views, feature interactions, taps, navigation events, and subscription screen interactions.
- Diagnostics: crash data, performance data, error logs, device information, and other technical diagnostic data.
3. How We Use Information
We use collected information for these purposes:
- App functionality: sign in users, save parent-approved content, manage Kid Mode, protect Parent Mode with PIN, restore subscriptions, and provide customer support.
- Analytics: understand how families use the app, improve features, measure reliability, and troubleshoot issues.
- Security and fraud prevention: protect accounts, prevent misuse, and maintain reliable service operation.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use collected information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
4. Third-Party Services
VioFamily may use trusted service providers to operate the app:
- Supabase: authentication, database, account data, and app backend storage.
- RevenueCat: subscription entitlement management, purchase status, and restore purchases.
- PostHog: product analytics, diagnostics, app usage events, and client-side error reporting.
- Apple App Store: in-app purchase processing and subscription billing on iOS.
- Google Play: in-app purchase processing and subscription billing on Android.
- YouTube/Google: video playback and video-related metadata for approved content.
These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to VioFamily, subject to their own policies and legal obligations.
5. Children's Privacy
VioFamily is designed for parents to manage approved video experiences for children. Parent accounts control the approved content list and app settings.
We do not knowingly ask children to provide contact information directly. Kid Mode is designed around parent-approved content and does not provide open YouTube search or open browsing.
Parents can contact us to request review, correction, or deletion of account and child-profile information associated with their family account.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
VioFamily offers Premium Monthly and Premium Annual subscriptions. On iOS, payment is handled by Apple through App Store in-app purchases. On Android, payment is handled by Google Play. We do not receive or store your credit card number or full payment details.
We may receive subscription status and purchase history from Apple, Google Play, and RevenueCat so the app can unlock Premium features and restore purchases.
7. Data Linked to You
Some information is linked to your account, such as your email address, user ID, subscription status, approved content, kid profiles, watch history, and app usage events. This lets the app provide account-based features across sessions and devices.
8. Tracking
VioFamily does not use collected data to track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising or data broker purposes.
9. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain subscriptions, support families, meet legal requirements, and improve reliability. We may delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed.
10. Data Deletion Requests
You can request deletion of your VioFamily account and associated data at https://vio.family/data-deletion/.
Account deletion requests may include your account email, user ID, kid profiles, parent-approved content lists, watch history, app activity records, and other data associated with your family account. We may keep limited records where required for legal, security, fraud prevention, support, accounting, subscription, or store compliance reasons.
To request deletion, contact support@vio.family from the email address linked to your VioFamily account, or include enough information for us to verify the account. We will review and process eligible deletion requests within a reasonable time.
11. Your Choices
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings, depending on where you subscribed.
- You can request access, correction, or deletion of account data by contacting us or visiting https://vio.family/data-deletion/.
- You can stop using the app at any time.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to protect family data and reduce unnecessary collection.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as VioFamily changes. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
